Housing is much more than mere bricks and mortar. Housing helps drive our economy, provides a sense of belonging and creates a more diverse community. A lack of appropriate housing negatively impacts both the individual and the community on countless levels. The costs of a lack of housing far exceed the costs of providing such housing.
The purpose of the Red Deer Housing Committee is to be the community voice in increasing available, affordable, accessible and decent housing options for citizens of Red Deer through collaborative partnerships, education and advocacy. The Red Deer Housing Committee has been working in the community since 1994. Please see the completed terms of reference here for more information on the Committee.
Current membership includes representatives from a broad cross section of the community including concerned citizens, individuals directly impacted by housing issues problems, non profit service providers, regional authorities and municipal, provincial and federal governments. The members of the Red Deer Housing Committee are to come.
